Lectures

Fulfilling a Dream and Remaining Alive

The Biblical Museum of Natural History is a one-of-its-kind tourist attraction that came to be due to the vision and actions of one man - Rabbi Dr. Natan Slifkin. Slifkin was Haredi when he made aliyah from England, who even in his youth was fascinated by the natural world and wildlife. Fulfilling his vision of researching and studying biblical wildlife and building the museum were filled with countless obstacles and difficulties though, some expected and many more that were not.

You can hear about the dream and its fulfilment in a colourful and lively lecture.

Lecture Length: Approximately 45 minutes.

Lecture Price: 1000 nis, in addition to the price of a guided tour.

Politics of Life

If you would like to hear about how the leaders of the animal kingdom are chosen, you can choose Dr. Sigalit Herz’s lecture. Dr. Herz is a biologist, who in the past served as the speaker and head of advertisement for the Biblical Zoo and the Israel Aquarium in Jerusalem.

Dr. Herz tells the fascinating story of the many leaders of the animals and birds - what characterizes the leadership of the lion, what the rare examples of female leadership in the animal kingdom are, and what prestige these leaderships bring, if any.

All this in a fascinating lecture that will take you on a journey through worlds that are distant from ours, but are always relevant.

Lecture Length: Approximately 45 minutes.

Lecture Price: 1000 nis, in addition to the price of a guided tour.
